of the United Kingdom’s capitol city.
New commerce territories are emerging, especially as the boundaries between digital and physical retail continue to blur. Justin Breton, Head of Brand Innovation at Walmart, is playing a key role in helping the retailer explore what exactly that means for the business and for its customers.
“We like to position ourselves at the intersection of culture and commerce, and we’re looking for opportunities that allow us to engage with customers outside the traditional four walls of Walmart,” Breton shared in an episode of the Future Commerce Podcast and in LORE, our latest print journal exploring brand storytelling and commerce. “And by the traditional four walls of Walmart, I don't mean just the store. I mean beyond the website, beyond the app, meeting customers where they are online, and providing them with experiences or opportunities that shorten the distance between inspiration and commerce.”
Breton and his team have worked passionately to explore these uncharted territories with gusto: Walmart Discovered on Roblox has allowed the retailer to embed itself in a vibrant gaming community powered by Gen Z and Gen Alpha, while Walmart Realm has “pushed the boundaries on what’s possible in the real world by creating immersive virtual storefronts,” Breton said.
Walmart Realm, an immersive, 360-degree digital experience has been updated several times to include new worlds. But the retailer’s latest venture, Walmart UNLIMITED, represents far more than a technological advancement or a new touchpoint to engage with customers. It's a fundamental reimagining of how stories and play become the primary vehicles for commercial engagement. Breton will join VISIONS Summit NYC to share more details on how this new commerce-enabled gaming experience is changing the way Walmart, and the retail industry as a whole, thinks about experience design and worldbuilding. Breton will be joined by Gianna Valintina, Global Head of Strategic Partnerships at Spatial, to explore one very big question:
When the map of commerce is redrawn in virtual space, who will navigate the uncharted territories?

VISIONS Summit: The Ultimate Destination for Creative Innovators and Boundary Breakers
New territories of commerce are emerging. We’re now at the threshold where shopping is transforming from transaction to immersion. That is why the theme for this year is "We Are Builders of Worlds."
On June 10, creatives, strategists, as well as brand and retail leaders, will gather at the Museum of Modern Art, a touchstone in the heart of North America’s most culturally dynamic and influential cities.
Attendees can expect a mix of thought-provoking keynotes, deep-dive panel discussions, and collaborative experiences that will explore how brands act as cultural time capsules, the fundamentals of worldbuilding, and how we can use a powerful combination of technology and mindfulness to create new realities.
Justin and Gianna join a growing roster of innovative minds, including musician, storyteller, and creative technologist Andrew Huang.
